Dec/Jan concept notes:
The main idea behind my abstract pieces was to capture reflective detail of the glass while showing color, form, and texture.
On the blue pieces I was using a blue foil as a refecter to kind of push that color through to the lens. I found that I got more comfortable curves as I got closer to the subject. I noticed on an erlier piece that I somehow always ended up with an orange streak so I went about trying to control that contrast. I later moved to the red glass beads attempting to mimic the same refective effect but it added a more intricate texture. The result was a blood and plasma/lava lamp effect that I am very fond of.
When I finished the photography, I printed my work and layed it out on my desk. I stared at it for a bit, and felt a subtle relaxed feeling like I was looking through the aquarium glass to see the colorful inhabitants within...(all without the responsibility of owning a fish!)
