The color of defeat

There was a sea of orange and brown downtown in the parking lots surrounding the stadium. The air was cold, but the mood was good, everyone was ready for a good matchup. No one, however was ready for the game that gave us the seventh disappointing loss of the season. Some could even argue that we did not even show up to play on our own field.
The game almost…made me consider becoming a fan of another football team. (ok maybe not). But I was angry. I was mad because of all of the fans that come week after week, remaining excited about the season, got nothing. All of the hype for the 2008 season was officially over. The magic and luck that we’d seen in recent weeks, fizzled.
The bela dubby art show - Nov.14th

The Friday night gallery opening at bela dubby was amazing. A small group of artists, Mischel, Lee Norris, Derryl Strong and myself, showcased illustration and photography based on storytelling. It was a great night, around 60 degrees, so guests frequently moved about from outside to in, taking on the energy of the air since it felt like early Spring. The guests brought friends, cameras, and delightful food.
The nibbles were amazing, with cheeses, dips, and breads. Thanks to those that contributed and to all that attended. There’s already a buzz about when the next art show will be. We hope to do it again soon, grabbing even more local artists and hopefully next time raising funds for a local charity.
Until then, I will be sure to keep you posted.
